NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Two toddlers in dirty diapers were found wandering the streets in the Bronx Thursday afternoon.

As CBS2’s Lou Young reported, the children, believed to be about 2 to 3 years old, were found on Longfellow Avenue between Aldus Street and East 165th Street in the Melrose section of the Bronx around 12:30 p.m.

They were not accompanied by any adults.

An area resident, Kenneth White, found the toddlers and took them in before they were hospitalized.

“I hear a scream, so I turned around – it was two little girls running towards me… no parents behind them, no father, no mother. No shoes on – just their Pampers, that’s it,” White said. “I’d never seen these kids before. So I went inside. I gave them Yoo-Hoo, cookies, and…
