EXPOSITION PARK (CBSLA.com) — Police are searching for the mother of an abandoned newborn, with his umbilical cord still attached, found in a stroller near a church in Exposition Park Tuesday.

A passerby found the baby boy near St. Agnes Church at Vermont Avenue and Dana Street shortly before 1 p.m. and called 911. “I pulled the blanket down. The first thing I saw was the baby’s head,” Alex Diaz said. He said he first spotted the dirty stroller Monday around 10 p.m.

“I checked to see if he had a pulse because he wasn’t moving at all. As soon as I touched him, he started moving and crying,” said Diaz.

Paramedics took the infant to a hospital, where he’s reported to be in good condition.

Detectives are now looking for security video in the area in hopes of tracking down the baby’s mother. “We would like her to come…
